The production values and sound quality are both very high. I could have done without the appearances by Robert Wyatt and Bob Geldoff, both of whom needed to hold a sheet of lyrics in front of them - very tacky! If you are going to be honored to grace the stage with the likes of David Gilmour, at least have the respect and decency to learn the lyrics! Still, this is clearly a Gilmour concert, NOT Floyd. This is a very nice song but they could have found something far more interesting to play together. Richard Wright makes a cameo appearance, doing a song from a recent solo work. The presence of a cello and a small choral ensemb le add some unique dimensions to the work. These are fresh and ineresting arrangements of some classic Floyd songs - namely "Shine on", "Comfortably Numb", "Wish you were Here", "Coming Back to Life", High Hopes", along with some old chestnuts like "fat Old Sun" and a couple of Syd Barret songs. So many artists do re-hashings of their older material and try to do them differently, just because they are sick of playing them the same old way. Think of it as an "unplugged" concert: great songs and arrangements done with mostly acoustic instruments. Don't expect an eye-popping Floyd extravaganza, though - this one is very low key and mellow. #DAVID GILMOUR A SELECTION OF UNPLUGGED SONGS LIVE FULL#ROCK Read full reviewĮxcellent concert and DVD - A must have!Īfter seeing "Remember That Night" I couldn't wait to see another live Gilmour concert, and this one did not disappoint. David sorry about the bad review I like you man but it is a bad DVD to ME. It was like he went out there and tried to wing it. And this I couldn't believe David's guitar wasn't even ready to play he had to keep adjusting his Pod to get the right tone & this was during the opening song. Can't we DNA him back? Back to David. If you watch the first of this DVD you can see David's pick hand shaking I know its hard to play for people that are just staring at you when you are by yourself but he should be used to it by now. That would be kind of funny you know snapping his fingers and such. I could just hear SRV doing Cold Shot Jazz Style. Clapton tried this if you remember when he did MTV's unplugged on Layla jazzzzz style and that didn't work now he has gone back to what got him to be one of the top guitarist in the world.I just hope if Stevie Ray Vaughan were still alive he wouldn't start going jazzzzz style. Like Def Leppard says were not a jazz band were a ro ck band. It starts off with just David out there by his self and man he looks rough as in fat and old and he has on that same t shirt & pants every time I see him. I always play Pink Floyd on my guitar but I don't even want to do that any more. I was watching this and my daughter said what's wrong and I said this DVD is turning me against David Gilmour she said turn it off now(she knows how much I like Gilmour & Pink Floyd) and I did but I had watched almost all of it and David dropped on my list of top guitarist. It seems as David is getting older he is trying a new style and turning his music in to Jazz, kind of Sinatra style music. If you are a fan of David Gilmour's and Pink Floyd do not buy this.
